West Austin Youth Association is a privately funded, non-profit organization that was founded in 1981 to provide recreational opportunities for the youth of Austin. WAYA serves over 4,000 youth in 60 zip codes throughout the Austin area with 30 sports programs and activities annually.

WAYA offers every child the opportunity to participate regardless of ability, disability, skill level, talent or financial need.

WAYA offers the following sports and activities: soccer, slow-pitch softball, fast-pitch softball, kickball, t-ball, baseball, flag football, volleyball, champs league soccer, gymnastics, developmental volleyball, lacrosse, developmental basketball, basketball, cheerleading, champs league basketball, yoga, west austin youth academy, champs league multi-sport, date nights, tailgating tikes, summer camps, and more!

WAYA's Philosophy, as seen throughout our various programs, is to emphasize participation over competition and education over performance. WAYA strives to ensure that all children spend an equal amount of time in practice and in play. WAYA coaches maintain a safe, positive and nurturing environment for all children where positive leadership and encouragement are given to each child in every WAYA program.

WAYA is particularly proud of its Champs League. Champs League is a developmental sports league for children with disabilities or other differences (including language, learning, attention, or physical) that may present a challenge in participating in mainstream sports. Champs League is a program focused on bringing kids of different abilities and disabilities together through the avenue of sports. Each player will be paired with a buddy or buddies who will assist the player in the different activities.

The Champions Academy, in addition to the wonderful work it does for so many young people of normal abilities also provides a weekly special session for children with disabilities or other differences.

If you have any questions about any of the WAYA programs or how you can volunteer, please call R. Louis Bratton at 512-477-8772.
